Pediatric Speech Therapy

Pediatric speech therapists address a child’s ability to communicate, a child’s ability to safely swallow food and liquid, a child’s ability to listen and comprehend directions and a child’s ability to function in a variety of social settings. A comprehensive evaluation is conducted and a treatment program is developed based on each child’s individual strengths and weaknesses. A play based approach is often the most appropriate for young children while a more structured setting is best for older children. A speech therapist may recommend treatment for any of the following disorders:

Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a profession concerned with helping people of all ages to better perform daily tasks. For children, tasks may include eating, dressing, grooming, writing, playing, or learning. An OT evaluates then designs challenges that build on your child’s unique strengths to facilitate progression through developmental skills.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Pediatric Physical Therapy Session
Physical therapy is a healthcare profession concerned with helping people of all ages to better move their bodies all environments and situations. For children, this typically means playing, learning, exploring, climbing, riding, and moving around obstacles in their environment. Pediatric physical therapy assists in early detection of health problems and uses a wide variety of modalities to treat disorders in the pediatric population. These therapists are specialized in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of congenital, developmental, neuromuscular, skeletal, or acquired disorders/diseases. Treatments focus on improving gross and fine motor skills, balance and coordination, strength and endurance as well as cognitive and sensory processing/integration. Children with developmental delays, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and autism are a few of the patients treated by pediatric physical therapists.

Pet Therapy

The Hope Center has invited some very special volunteers to help with their clients...therapy dogs. The dogs are used by the therapist to help the patients achieve their physical goals for the day. They motivate the patients to work hard while having fun. The patients, family and staff all benefit from working with our dogs.
