How can physical therapy help me?

A physical therapist can evaluate your condition and identify the source of your discomfort or dysfunction. Once evaluated, the therapist can develop a treatment program that will usually involve some form of manual therapy and exercise, as well as modalities if they are needed to treat the problem areas. You will also receive instruction in a home exercise program as well as education on proper body mechanics and posture to prevent re-injury.

How can speech therapy help me?

A Speech-language Pathologist is consulted by your physician to complete an evaluation of your speech, language or swallowing skills. Once evaluated, the therapist can develop a treatment program that meets your specific needs and directly targets the problem areas. You will also receive education to use in the home environment to maximize the carryover of newly learned skills or techniques. How can occupational therapy help me?

Occupational therapy is a profession concerned with helping people to better perform daily tasks. When injury occurs in the brain or in the body, we are often unable to complete activities in the ways that we are accustomed. Activities such as eating, dressing, grooming, writing, toileting, and cooking are examples of such tasks. An OT evaluates then designs challenges to build on your strengths to facilitate the best way to perform daily tasks.
